Maggie Grace (born Margaret Grace Denig November 21, 1983) is an American actress best known for her roles as Shannon Rutherford on the ABC television series Lost as well as Kim Mills in the Taken trilogy. Her birthplace was Worthington, Ohio and dropped out of school after her parents divorced to go in Los Angeles to live with her mother. The actress landed her first part, as Rachel's Room's lead character in 2001 despite struggling in the financial department. The TV film Murder in Greenwich, in which she portrayed 15-year-old Martha Moxley earned her the nomination for the Young Artist Award. In 2004 Grace was chosen to play Shannon Rutherford in the television show Lost where she acted as a principal character for the initial two seasons, and was awarded a Screen Actors Guild Award shared by the entire cast. Grace has worked with Tom Welling on The Fog in the year 2005, wanted to move to film. The actress starred in Suburban Girl The Jane Austen Book Club in both 2007 as well as Taken (2008) alongside Liam Neeson. The actress reprised her character as Kim Mills in Taken 2 (2011) and Taken 3 (2013).She also played Alice in Malice in Wonderland, a contemporary adaptation to Lewis Carroll's Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. Grace played the role of Shannon in Lost and the final episode. In 2013, she appeared in the sixth season of Californication. She is Faith, a groupie who serves as a model for the stars, and draws the eye from Hank Moody (David Duchovny). Gyllenhaal is a member of her family and is the elder sibling of Jake Gyllenhaal. Her first roles were in films of her father when he was an adolescent. Together with her brother she appeared on the screen in Donnie Darko (2000). She also starred as a character on Adaptation Confessions of a Dangerous Mind. She also appeared on Mona Lisa Smile (2003). Gyllenhaal was praised by critics for her performances as the lead in the erotic romance comedy drama Secretary (2002) as well as the drama Sherrybaby (2006) both of which resulted in a Golden Globe Award nomination. In the wake of several successful commercial films in 2006 such as World Trade Center she received greater recognition for her performance as Rachel Dawes in the superhero film The Dark Knight (2008). In recognition of her role as an unmarried mother, in Crazy Heart (2009) she received a nomination for Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress. She subsequently starred in the comedies and dramas: Nanny McPhee and The Big Bang (2010) Hysteria (2011) and The Won't Back Down (2012). Her other roles include the role of a Secret Service agent in the action thriller White House Down (2013) a musician in Frank (2014) and her role as the lead in the drama The Kindergarten Teacher (2018). Gyllenhaal was the writer and director of her first film, The Lost Daughter in 2021. The thriller that dealt with psychological issues was awarded the Best Screenplay Award from the Venice International Film Festival. The film was also nominated for be awarded the Academy Award of Best Adapted Screenplay.
