Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson, born in Paris France of British parents Jacqueline Luesby Watson and Chris Watson both attorneys. As a child she was enrolled in at the Dragon School in Oxfordshire. At the age of six, Emma was aware she was going to become an actress and for a number of years she studied at the Oxford Branch of Stagecoach Theatre Arts a part-time theatre school where she studied the art of acting and dancing. Through a school play as well as an Stagecoach show, she took the lead at the age 10, and acted. Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone, the 2001 film version from J.K. Rowling's bestselling book was filmed in 1999. Emma was discovered as a casting agent through her Oxford drama instructor. David Heyman told Emma along with Rupert Grint, Daniel Radcliffe after they all had 8 consecutive auditions. The debut of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (2001) was Emma's debut on the screen in cinema. The film is 2001's top production, and it broke records during the opening day as well as the first weekend. The film was praised by critics who praised the film, and especially the young performers. The Daily Telegraph in Britain and the Daily Telegraph in America, widely read the newspaper, described her performance as outstanding. Emma was later awarded five prizes for her performance in the movie.
